Moon River

Moon River is a musical gem written by Henry Mancini, who is best known for the music he wrote for film.

He won four Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, and twenty Grammy Awards, plus a posthumous Grammy lifetime Achievement Award in 1995. Here are some of the composer’s most famous film themes: The Pink Panther Theme, the Peter Gunn Theme from the famous tv series, "Days of Wine and Roses”, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s  - which features Moon River.

Johnny Mercer’s lyrics:

Moon River, wider than a mile

I'm crossing you in style some day

Old dream maker, you heart breaker

Where ever you're going, i'm going your way.

Two drifters, off to see the world.

There's such a lot of world to see.

We're after the same rainbow's end,

Waiting 'round the bend,

My Huckleberry friend,

Moon River and me.

I love its mesmerising melody, the gentle lulling of the 3/4 rhythm and harmony joined together in a yearning masterpiece. And what a luck, for some students, ;) - it is possible to play it on the white keys only! I did this arrangement for interemediate students, but if you are a beginner and would like to have even simpler sheet music, I can simplify it.
